Before you start

You need a Friday account. Connecting Google Workspace is part of setup, because Friday keeps the files it makes in a Friday folder it creates in your My Drive. Gmail and Google Calendar are optional and connect separately.

Workspace admins can cap how much Gmail and Drive access members may grant, under Admin, then Apps and connectors, then Google access.

For Google Workspace admins

Friday uses one Google OAuth client for sign-in and every Google connection:

To allow Friday for your organization, open the Google Admin console, then Security, then Access and data control, then API controls. Choose Manage third-party app access, add the client ID above, and set its access to Trusted. You can block Friday the same way.

Connect

Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides)

  1. In Friday, open Settings, then Connectors, then Google Workspace.
  2. Choose Connect Google Workspace and sign in with your Google account.
  3. Review the access Google shows you and choose Continue.

New connections start at Picked files only. You can change the level from the account's menu:

  • Picked files only: Friday can open files you pick in Friday and files Friday creates.
  • All files you can open: Friday can also read any Drive file your account can open.

Gmail

Open Settings, then Connectors, then Gmail, and connect an account. You can add more than one. Two levels:

  • Drafts and send (the default): Friday can write drafts and send email you approve.
  • Full mailbox: Friday can also read, search, label, archive and trash email.

Google Calendar

Open Settings, then Connectors, then Google Calendar, and connect. Friday can read your calendars, check free and busy times, and create or change events. Invites, changes that guests will see, and replies to invitations wait for your approval.

What you can ask

  • "Turn these meeting notes into a decision doc with an action-item table."
  • "Which rows in the Q3 tracker are more than 30 days overdue?"
  • "Update the summary slides with August's numbers."
  • "Draft a reply to the vendor thread and hold it for me."
  • "Find 45 minutes with Sam and Priya next week."

Friday writes only to files it created, its Friday folder, and files you pick. Edits to existing documents, sheets and slides are previewed first. Sending email, calendar changes that involve guests, and sharing that grants or widens access wait for your approval.

Disconnect

  1. In Friday, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Google Workspace, Gmail or Google Calendar.
  2. Open the account's menu and choose Disconnect.

Friday asks Google to revoke its access and deletes the tokens it stored. Friday uses a single Google app for all of these connections, so disconnecting one of them ends Friday's access to Drive, Gmail and Calendar for that Google account. Friday may show the others as connected until it next tries to use them. Reconnect the ones you still want.

You can also remove Friday from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The next time Friday refreshes its access to that account, it marks the connection as needing to reconnect and deletes its stored tokens.

What happens to your data

  • Friday's stored Google tokens are deleted.
  • Files Friday created stay in your Drive. They belong to you.
  • Chats and results already in Friday stay in your workspace until you delete them or an admin erases them.
  • Records of Gmail actions Friday took, which hold no message bodies, are kept until erasure.

To delete everything, ask a workspace admin to use Admin, then Data erasure, or email privacy@friday.land. Friday's use of Google data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, as described in our Privacy Policy.
