Friday for Slack

Ask Friday for work where your team already talks. Friday reads the conversations it is part of, answers in the thread, and posts as you only when you approve.

Before you start

You need a Friday account. A Friday workspace admin adds Friday to your Slack workspace once. Then each person connects their own Slack account, so Friday works as them.

Add Friday to Slack

Workspace admin

  1. In Friday, open Settings, then Admin, then Apps and connectors.
  2. Find Slack and choose Set up Slack. Friday may ask you to confirm with your passkey.
  3. Slack shows the permissions Friday needs. Review them and choose Allow.

Everyone else

  1. In Friday, open Settings, then Connectors, then Slack.
  2. Choose Connect your Slack and approve in Slack.

After you connect, invite Friday to the channels where you want to use it (type /invite @Friday in the channel).

Use Friday in Slack

  • Mention @Friday in a channel Friday is in, or message Friday directly.
  • Type /friday followed by your request anywhere, including a DM with yourself.
  • Friday replies in the thread, and can send you a DM with a link back when work finishes or needs you.
  • Send Friday a DM that just says help, or type /friday help, to see how to work with Friday in Slack.

Friday reads messages in channels it has been added to and in conversations with Friday. With your own Slack connection, it can also search and read what you can see, including files and reactions, when your request needs it. It posts, reacts or invites people as you only after you approve. Friday does not use Slack data to train AI models.

Friday uses AI models to read, draft and act. It can make mistakes, so check important results before you rely on them. Friday shows its sources and asks before it sends or shares anything for you.

Disconnect or remove Friday

Disconnect just your account

In Friday, open Settings, then Connectors, then Slack. On You in Slack, open the menu and choose Disconnect. Friday deletes its stored copy of your Slack token.

Disconnect the workspace in Friday

A Friday admin opens Settings, then Admin, then Apps and connectors, opens Slack's menu, and chooses Disconnect. Friday deletes the workspace's bot token and every member's Slack token. Friday stays installed in Slack until a Slack admin removes it there.

Remove Friday from Slack

A Slack admin opens the Friday app in Slack's app management page (Tools, then Apps, or your-workspace.slack.com/apps/manage) and chooses Remove App. Slack then revokes Friday's access and tells Friday. Friday disconnects Slack, deletes the Slack tokens it stored and discards Slack messages still waiting for your approval.

What happens to your data

  • Friday's stored Slack tokens are deleted when you disconnect in Friday or remove Friday from Slack.
  • Friday can no longer read or post in Slack.
  • Chats started from Slack stay in your Friday workspace until you delete them or an admin erases them.
  • Nothing Friday posted in Slack is removed. Slack keeps it under your workspace's own retention settings.

To delete Friday's copy of your data, ask a workspace admin to use Admin, then Data erasure, or email privacy@friday.land. See our Privacy Policy.
